Kagiso Rabada was controversially handed his fourth demerit point by the ICC in the last 24 months. This rules him out of the last Test match against England at the Wanderers.
The incident occurred on Day 1 after the dismissal of Joe Root where a fierce delivery kept low and clattered into Root’s off stump. The issue was with Rabada’s celebration – he ran down to the batman’s end and yelled loudly standing next to Joe Root as his teammates promptly surrounded him in celebration.
According to the ICC found Rabada guilty of “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his or her dismissal during an international match.”
South Africa’s premier fast bowler is now out of the decisive final Test, which is controversial as he didn’t use any swear words or physically touch Root.
